$50 Billion for Infrastructure in America? Yes, we need it!

On October 11th, 2010, President Obama with Secretary LaHood urge Congress to take up a $50 Billion infrastructure management and improvement initiative.  As our roadway infrastructure ages, we need more funding for rebuilding bridges, paving highways and upgrading roadway signs.

See President Obama’s  announcement in the following video …

You can read more on Transportation Secretary LaHood’s blog.

President Obama’s initiative proposes that:

“Over the next six years, we will rebuild 150,000 miles of our roads — enough to circle the world six times. We will lay and maintain 4,000 miles of our railways — enough to stretch from coast to coast. And we will restore 150 miles of runways and advance a next generation air-traffic control system that reduces delays for the American people.”

What are your thoughts? Is the government doing enough to improve our roadway infrastructure?
