We are going to start the new year with a 5 part mini-tutorial on MicroPAVER™.
Over the next 5 weeks we will show you where you can get MicroPAVER™ and how much it costs. You will also learn how to create a street network as a reference frame, which distresses can be recorded, how to analyze your data to create a pavement condition index and, finally, how to create reports. If you are new to MicroPAVER™ you will learn the basics of using the software for pavement management. If you are an experienced user, I invite you to share your know-how and leave some tips in the comments section below this post.
You probably know that MicroPAVER™ is one of the most popular and widely used pavement management systems around. It has been developed by the US Army Corps of Engineers. They still maintain and upgrade the program. At the official MicroPAVER™ website you can download manuals and read about new developments. However, you can’t get the program (except, if you are a Department of Defense user).
Everyone else can get it from APWA or the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) of the University of Illinois. Click on the links to either of these organizations to order the software and documentation. Based on a note on the TAC website, it appears that they will no longer support MicroPAVER™ after March 2011.
When you order from APWA, you will be charged $995, if you are a member. Non-members pay $1,095. The package includes the software, user manuals, a number of pavement management books and 1 year of technical support and upgrades. The renewal fees are $550 for members and $650 for non-members.
When you buy MicroPAVER™ you get a site license for your organization, so you will not be charged per seat.
If you want to get hands-on MicroPAVER™ training and don’t just listen to recordings offered by APWA, feel free to call Craig Schorling toll free at (877) 263-5589.
