Sidewalk Management
Communities are dedicated to fostering pedestrian-friendly environments, and well-maintained sidewalks are crucial. However, given the litigious nature of our society, cities and counties face significant risks if sidewalks are not properly maintained. Effective sidewalk management minimizes these risks by taking a programmatic approach and strategically prioritizing repairs and replacements.
A Transmap Sidewalk Management Solution kicks off with a comprehensive assessment of a city or county’s sidewalk network. We utilize mobile data collection vehicles and integrate existing GIS data to survey the condition of sidewalks across the area. Special attention is given to ADA compliance and potential hazards like tree roots in older cities.
Based on our findings, we next develop a sidewalk condition map that aids communities in budgeting for sidewalk repairs or replacements. We support agencies in identifying needs, planning repair and replacement strategies, and budgeting effectively. Our goal is to help agencies enhance walkability by offering tailored solutions that reduce liability risks and improve pedestrian safety. By taking a systematic approach, communities can allocate funds more efficiently to maintain and upgrade their sidewalks.
