Midland, Texas
Midland, situated in West Texas, serves as the county seat of Midland County, extending partially into Martin County. As part of the Permian Basin, Midland plays a crucial role in the oil and natural gas sectors of the United States.
Our partnership with Midland began a decade ago. In 2014, we conducted a pavement analysis for the city. The following year, we undertook an asset extraction project to gather data on signs, pavement markings, crosswalks, ADA ramps, manholes, sidewalks, curbs, and guardrails. Based on this data, in 2017, we developed a pavement management plan. In 2018, we implemented a Cityworks Pavement API Update to enhance data integration and management.
In 2020, we gathered data over 1,522 centerline miles of roadway in Midland, formatting all information to ASTM D6433 standards and incorporating it into the PAVER system. This included a True Area analysis, generating a Pavement Condition Index (PCI) map, and a Cityworks/PAVER interface for data review.
By 2023, we updated our Pavement Management solutions, recollecting data over 1,522 miles and updating the True Area information to the current standards. We also transitioned all historical data to the Pavement Express platform and created a new five-year work plan and an enhanced performance model for the city.
In 2024, our focus shifted to additional asset extraction concerning sidewalks, their failures, ADA ramps, and medians. We also hosted a two-day Pavement Express 1 training session for city employees, enabling them to effectively utilize and manage their data using the Pavement Express platform.
